Odd Man Out and Series MCQs give you a list of numbers and ask you to find the term that breaks the pattern or the next number in the sequence. They are common in NTS, ISSB, SSC and banking aptitude papers. Each question shows the correct answer instantly, helping you learn the patterns examiners reuse most often.

Number series questions reward pattern recognition more than heavy calculation. This set includes sequences built on cubes such as 1, 8, 27, 64, squares like 16, 25, 36, alternating signs that double each time, and series where the differences between terms themselves form a pattern of primes or consecutive numbers. Odd man out items hide one wrong term, for example 100 placed among perfect cubes. A reliable method is to check differences first, then ratios, then squares and cubes, and finally alternating or two-step patterns. Practising this checklist builds speed for timed recruitment tests.

Write down the difference between each pair of neighbouring terms and see whether they follow a pattern. If not, test ratios, then check whether the terms are squares, cubes or primes. The term that does not fit the rule all the others follow is the odd man out.
Each term is multiplied by minus 2 to give the next one. So the term after 64 is 64 multiplied by minus 2, which is minus 128. Spotting a constant multiplier with alternating signs is a common shortcut in series questions.
