This English topic presents numbered words in a random order, such as 'I, help, not, you, did', and asks you to choose the order that forms a correct sentence. Questions test standard English word order of subject, verb and object, the position of auxiliaries such as did, have and had, the placement of not in negative sentences, and how questions begin with an auxiliary, as in 'Have you seen my bag?'. These items look easy but are designed to catch careless readers, so it helps to find the subject and main verb first and then build the rest of the sentence around them.

India
Bangladesh
First find the subject and the main verb, then add any auxiliary verb in the right place. In questions, the auxiliary comes before the subject, as in 'Have you seen him?'. In negatives, not follows the first auxiliary, as in 'I did not help you'.
Sentence formation and rearrangement questions appear in the English sections of NTS, ISSB, armed forces initial tests and PPSC in Pakistan, SSC CGL, SSC CHSL and IBPS Clerk in India, and BCS and bank job exams in Bangladesh.
