What can be inferred from the passage about Mr Haider’s garden?

Read the passage: Old Mr Haider's garden was the envy of the street. Every morning he watered his roses, trimmed the hedges and swept the path. When he broke his leg one winter, neighbours expected the garden to fall into ruin. Yet each morning the path was swept and the roses watered. Mr Haider, watching from his window, said nothing. Only in spring, when he was able to walk again, did he notice the small muddy footprints by the gate and the boy from next door who suddenly knew the names of all his flowers.

Correct answer C. The neighbour's boy had secretly been looking after the garden

Explanation

The muddy footprints by the gate and the boy suddenly knowing the flower names suggest that he cared for the garden while Mr Haider recovered.
