Practice mode Profit and Loss

A trader buys goods for Rs. 6,000. He sells one-third of them at a 20% loss. At what gain percentage must he sell the rest to gain 10% on the whole?

Correct answer A. 25%

Explanation

Target SP = 6,600. One-third costs Rs. 2,000 and sells for Rs. 1,600, so the remaining Rs. 4,000 of goods must fetch Rs. 5,000. Required gain = 1,000/4,000 × 100 = 25%.
