Pakistan
Punjab general knowledge is a regular part of PPSC tests and the Punjab PMS exam, and it also appears in FPSC, NTS and police recruitment tests in Pakistan.
Punjab means "land of five waters" in Persian, after the five rivers of the region: the Jhelum, Chenab, Ravi, Beas and Sutlej. Since 1947 the Beas lies wholly in India and the Sutlej flows partly in each country.
A doab is the land between two rivers. The main doabs are Sindh Sagar (Indus and Jhelum), Chaj (Jhelum and Chenab), Rechna (Chenab and Ravi) and Bari (Ravi and Beas). Questions on these appear often in PPSC papers.
