Literature questions ask about poets and writers such as Rabindranath Tagore, Kazi Nazrul Islam, Jasimuddin, Jibanananda Das, Begum Rokeya, Shamsur Rahman, Selina Hossain and Humayun Ahmed, their titles, best-known works and periodicals. Music questions cover Bhatiali, Baul and other folk forms, the national anthem and the national marching song. Questions frequently ask for the author of a named poem, novel or song, or for the title by which a writer is popularly known, so linking each name to its works is the core skill in this part of the topic.
Heritage questions cover Mahasthangarh, Lalbagh Fort, Ahsan Manzil, the Central Shaheed Minar and International Mother Language Day. Other questions cover Pohela Boishakh and Chhayanaut's dawn programme at Ramna, Bangla Academy, notable films and documentaries, Liberation War literature and landmarks in Bangladesh sport. Many questions name a monument or festival and ask about its location, founder or date, and a few cover national cricket milestones such as the inaugural Test match of 2000.

Kazi Nazrul Islam is the national poet of Bangladesh. Known as the Bidrohi Kobi, or rebel poet, he wrote poems and thousands of songs. He was brought to Dhaka in 1972 and was buried beside the mosque of the University of Dhaka after his death in 1976.
Culture, literature and heritage questions appear in the Bangladesh Affairs section of the BCS preliminary test and in Bangladesh Bank, government bank, primary and secondary teacher recruitment tests and many other government job exams.
UNESCO declared 21 February International Mother Language Day in 1999 to honour the students killed in Dhaka on 21 February 1952 during the Language Movement for Bangla. It has been observed worldwide since 2000 to promote linguistic and cultural diversity.
