In a 200 m race, A gives B a start of 20 m and still beats him by 10 m. By how many metres would A beat B in a 500 m race with no start?

Correct answer B. 75 m

Explanation

When A runs 200 m, B runs 190 − 20 = 170 m, a ratio of 200 : 170. Over 500 m B runs 425 m, so A wins by 75 m.
